Announcements:

• Sophomores and Juniors – Capital Area Career Center Open house is January 29 from 5-7 pm. 

• New students to CACC for next year must turn in applications to Mrs. Daniel or Ms. Goetsch by tomorrow.  

• The Springfield-Decatur Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will be giving away 10 scholarships.  If interested, applications are online on the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln website (ffll.org) in the scholarship and grants section.  Applications must be submitted no later than March 1, 2026.  

• Service Hours:  Journey to the Cross on Saturday March 28 1-4pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  If you would like to help please email Jessica at [email protected]  by February 13th.

• Guess passes for Winter Dance must be turned in by tomorrow.

• Springfield-Decatur Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta has ten scholarships this year.  Seniors who are interested can apply online on the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln website (cfll.org)  Applications must be submitted no later than March 1.

• Beta Sigma Psi  is offering a $3,000 scholarship given out to a Lutheran male freshman attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Fall 2026. There is no obligation to join Beta Sigma Psi to receive this award. Runner-ups may be eligible for $1,000. Our scholarship application may be found online at https://forms.gle/6Ey69wMutiSX8Y9VA. All applications are due February 28th, 2026.
• The Beta Sigma Psi Educational Foundation offers additional scholarships and grant opportunities for members of the Lutheran community. These opportunities can be found here https://www.betasigmapsi.org/scholarships-for-high-school-students/

Sports Update:

Scholastic Bowl, the team went 1-2 at Porta last evening!

Activity Spotlight shines on:

Judah in Dual Credit US History for consistent positive effort in class or on homework.

Maddox in Religion 9 for consistent positive effort in class or on homework.

John in Religion 9 for consistent positive effort in class or on homework.

Aaron in Business Math for continued improvement throughout the year and great participation on our Class Activity Escape room days. 

Emma in Geometry and Spanish 1 for excellent daily work and work ethic.  Emma had a super strong academic start to 2nd semester and excellent class participation, including dramatic reading.

Kinzley in Spanish 1 for acing the first two quizzes of the semester and starting off 2nd semester strong.
