Announcements:

Coach Pickett is preparing for another awesome Scholastic Bowl season. Last year’s team exceeded expectations and even won a regional match. Matches do not begin until later this year or early next year, but Coach Pickett would like to start practices in the near future. If you have any interest, please email Coach Pickett at [email protected]. All are welcome.

Freshman and Transfers…if you are in need of LUHI gear…Mrs McCulley has gear in size small and medium that is FREE!!  First come, first serve- in her room.  Any LuHi students are welcome to the attire but offering to those that may not have any gear yet.

There will be no traditional auditions for the fall play. Students interested in acting in “The Iliad, the Odyssey, and all of Greek Mythology in 99 minutes” should talk to Mr. Bulava to get a script and let him know about any potential conflicts. Rehearsals begin next week and will be held directly after school (3:30-4:30 pm) and in the evening (7:00-8:00 pm), depending on the day and other school events.

Sports Updates:

Both JV and Varsity battled hard against a scrappy Pawnee team. The varsity saw fight and determination…they lost 27-25 in a very fun tough game 1.  Game 2 the Saders lost momentum being down 12-1 but clawed their way back to make it a competitive game.  Although they did not get the win, the atmosphere was so fun- thanks student section and Fans…and the girls are learning to compete hard…progress over perfection! 

The Crusader soccer team was in the semifinals and played a great 2A Highland team. The crusaders looked great at times but gave up 3 goals each half and lost 6-0.  

Tonight’s Activities: 

Boys soccer plays Lincolnwood for 3rd place in the Carlinville tournament but will play in Virden at 7:30pm.

Service Hours Opportunity: 

There is a Blind Awareness Fair at Southwind Park on Saturday, October 10th.  If you’re interested in helping with the event on the 10th or Preview Night on the 9th, you can find more information in the Daily Shield online or ask Mrs. Miller.
