April 15, 2026 Meeting Notes
Principal’s Report
Enrollment: 2025-2026 Enrollment has increased to 115 total students.
Spring Sports/Activities:
- Track & Field: Jeramy Daniel set a school record in the triple jump with a 45’8”. This surpassed the previous record set by Mason Kooi (who is on the track team at Nebraska) back in 2022.
- Spring Play: Lutheran High School Presents “8 Minutes Left”, written by E.B. Lee and directed by Alumni Lauren Lemar. May 1st 7pm, May 2nd 2pm & 7pm, and May 3rd 2pm at Lutheran High, 5200 S 6th St Frontage Rd E. Tickets are $5 at the door. 12+ students participating.
- Music: The music department had a talent show last week, with many acts. It was well done with the theme of “On Broadway”. We are planning to bring back Band in some fashion for next school year.
- 6th Grade Day: 6th grade day will be held at Lutheran High on Friday May 1, 2026. The 6th grade classes are invited to stay and enjoy the dress rehearsal of the Spring Play.
Principal Meetings – Participated in the National Lutheran School Accreditation team at Metro-East Lutheran High School to obtain a better understanding of the process, which we are scheduled for in 2027-28. Met with Ball Chatham to discuss driver’s education and the future plans.

- Baccalaureate – May 15th at Good Shepherd Sherman, 6:30pm
- Graduation – May 16th at Cherry Hills Church, 12:30pm
Development Director’s Report
Lutheran High Fundraising Calendar for April-May
- 36th Annual Auction was April 10th – Net profits at $35,500. Thank you to the donors, sponsors and guests for making our event a success.
- Drive Thru Chicken Dinner catered by Nelson’s and hosted by the Freshman Class – May 12th from 3:30-5:30 pm at Lutheran High. Tickets are $15 and include grilled ½ chicken, mashed potatoes with chicken gravy, corn, dinner roll & butter. Contact a LuHi Freshman or email Mr. Bulava at [email protected]
New Building Fundraising
- Continuing to meet with Generis to discuss the future fundraising efforts at LuHi.
- Intend to start meeting with our potential top donors (campaign silent phase) in early May.
- Finalizing a Case for Support to use for Campaign Materials.
- Developing a policy for naming opportunities in the new building construction project.
$1.5M State of Illinois Grant Funds
- Completed corrections to paperwork and budget. forwarded to State of IL DCEO on 4/15/26.
- External review and bond release is currently taking 6-12 months.
Chairman’s Report
- IDNR inspected the Washington Property to ensure there are no subsidence issues at the athletic fields. All fields were deemed safe for use.
- Renewed farm lease at the Chatham Road property for the 2026 farming season.
Executive Committee – Did not meet. Scheduling meeting for end of April.
Finance Committee – Financial reports (Budget vs Actuals and Account Balances) for end of March were provided and discussed.
Education Committee
- Letters of Intent have been sent out to all teachers.
- The Committee is reviewing board policy on extracurricular compensation.
- The Committee provided a recommendation for a base salary increase, which will be reviewed by the Finance Committee prior to the May meeting.
- April 8th was the teacher appreciation luncheon.
- Principal Evaluations were tabulated and will be presented to the Executive Board in the next 2 weeks.
- The Committee reviewed Mr. Klug’s evaluations of new teachers, how they are doing, what their goals are, and if improvement needs to be made. In most cases, the evaluations were very positive.
- The Committee is also reviewing and updating the faculty handbook. This process will happen over a period of time.
