From our Athletic Director

At Lutheran High School, the student body is very involved in our athletic programs. Over 75% of our students participate on an athletic team and the majority of these athletes participate in multiple sports. Here at Lutheran, we have 12 athletic teams and several individual sports all participating in IHSA sanctioned competitions.

Lutheran High School is training Christian leaders not only in the classroom, but also on the athletic field, court, or track. Our student-athletes learn values and lessons that will last a lifetime.

Here are some examples of those values:

Witness our faith in Jesus Christ through our sportsmanship and integrity.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. (Philippians 4:8)

Accountability and responsibility as they pertain to academic excellence, work habits and time management.
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. (Proverbs 27:17)

Teamwork.
Just as one body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12)

Perseverance.
Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete; not lacking anything. (James 1:4)

Train ourselves physically, mentally and nutritionally for maximum performance.
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

Pursue excellence in competition.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not men (Colossians 3:23)
